Connecticut’s adoption of the so called “Amazon tax” law this month has resulted in Overstock.com’s announcement that it will no longer advertise on affiliate sites in the state. According to Internet Retailer, the site will instead shift money to in-state consumers taking part in the retailer’s loyalty program called Club O.

New Connecticut Tax Laws in Effect 10/1/09

New Connecticut tax laws set to go in effect tomorrow bring new fees and tax increases in Connecticut. Changes include:

Cigarette tax jumps from $2 to $3 a pack
Most bottles of water will cost a nickel more because of an expanded bottle and can redemption law

Change to Connecticuts Estate Tax Laws

Connecticut residents will no longer have to flee to Florida to avoid the Connecticut estate tax because of a new law enacted Sept. 8 (House Bill 6802).
